The wife of well-known Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze of NSPPD, Pastor Eno Jerry, has provoked discussion by denouncing women who put their professions before of honoring and deferring to their spouses.

She encouraged young women to strike a balance between ambition and biblical marriage advice when addressing a congregation about pursuing a job as a woman.

“Even me I have a career, two master’s degrees, and a PhD, if you cannot take control and be under a man, you don’t know what you’re doing,” she stated.

She further highlighted the importance of choosing the right role models:

“The people teaching you how to do marriage right now are those who have failed in their marriages. Your role model should be someone you look up to. You should have enough direction from the fact that Sarah in the Bible referred to her husband as “Lord.”

Online responses to her lecture were swift, with some applauding her emphasis on humility and respect and others disputing her position on conventional gender roles, arguing that women can be both self-reliant and helpful.

Pastor Eno Jerry emphasized that marriage is still a top concern and reminded her audience that professional success should not come at the price of balance.

Her message emphasizes that while education and professional accomplishments are important, a successful life also requires balance, respect, and collaboration.
