Months after their proposal images went viral, a Nigerian woman on X (previously Twitter) who goes by the handle @nor_mad_ stated that she and her photographer fiancé, Eddie Ekwere, were no longer engaged.

When the couple’s proposal photos went viral online in March, many social media users celebrated their love story and praised Eddie’s attractiveness.

But in a surprising turn of events, @nor_mad_ announced the breakup by going back to the identical proposal pictures on her X page.

“Well e don cast” was her simple caption.

A public service announcement
After a barrage of comments from interested fans, the woman uploaded a video to set the record straight.

In it, she said, “So I brought out my phone and my mic to make a public service announcement. The public service announcement is that I am no longer engaged. I am no longer in a relationship. I’m not going to explain why. I just want to be over and done with the whole commenting and everything that has to do with my relationship. I’m now single. That’s literally the announcement I came to make.”

Fans react

OpewilliamsK reacted: “Shouldn’t have made the video if you weren’t going to explain? The online uncles and aunties deserve to know.”

NuJhayhne penned: “Was waiting for the point where you’ll say “i’m no longer single, because i’m now married”.”

Alexandaaahh said: “My mind is telling me that the guy left you because of your forehead.”

AimThaMachine_ penned: “I thought this video is to explain why you broke off your engagement & relationship? I guess “E Don Cast” would have sufficed like you wrote before this video… Anyway, I wish you the best if things were on amicable terms sha ooo. Otherwise, gist go soon sup and e go trend.”

imMarvinAgunkwo said: “E sure me say na your bad behaviour make her leave you, because wtf. They engaged you, you posted it, they broke up with you, you also posted it. Just some relationship tip – not everyone likes their business (relationship) to be put out there for anyone with a smartphone and mobile data to see.”
