“You put 2-bedroom flat for ₦2.5m and say you don’t want yahoo boys” – Man

Published

on

A young Nigerian man has expressed his disapproval as he called out landlords in Delta State, especially those in Asaba, over what he described as unaffordable house rents.

In a viral video making the rounds on social media, the man voiced his frustration, saying that landlords in Asaba place rents so high that ordinary people cannot afford them.

In the video, he opened with a direct question: “Asaba landlords, how do you put a two-bedroom flat for N2.5 million, N3 million, and you go open mouth say you no want yahoo boy?” He also questioned their logic, even asking if they were mentally stable. He claimed that it was irrational to expect a regular person who is not a scammer to be able to afford up to ₦3 million in rent.

The man expressed worries about the nation’s income distribution as well. He inquired about the minimum salary that the federal and state governments are paying, which would enable a regular worker to affordably rent a two-bedroom apartment at such a high price.

He emphasized in his argument that no ordinary citizen or civil servant can actually afford to pay ₦3 million in rent.

He concluded that only internet fraudsters, popularly called yahoo boys, could afford such luxury, and landlords already know the kind of people they are building those expensive houses for.

The man’s outburst has since sparked different reactions online, with many people agreeing that house rent in Asaba and other Nigerian cities has become too costly for the average citizen.
