‘What did you use to type?’ – Funke Akindele replies fan asking for phone

After answering a fan’s online request for a phone, Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has generated discussion. The admirer, who claimed not to own a phone, had penned a note begging for assistance.
The actress responded by expressing shock and asking why the request was made. She questioned, “What did you use to type the message, and why are you lying?”

She noted that not everyone needs to own an expensive device, stressing that contentment is more important.
Akindele said there was no justification for lying in order to win people over. Is using a large phone required? She cautioned that “contentment is vital,” and that “honesty should come before any type of support.
“Contentment Is Crucial.”
The actress expressed her amazement at the plea when she recently checked in with her internet fans. The first thing that sprang to mind when she woke up and said, “Let me check my people,” was, “Please, mother, I do not have a phone.”
She highlighted that social media has become a space where many people now attempt to exploit celebrities with exaggerated stories. For her, humility and truthfulness remain better approaches than false desperation.

Her comments have since ignited a broader debate on entitlement culture and the growing trend of fans seeking financial or material assistance from celebrities.
