On her way to work, a lady stabs a complete stranger in the chest in a horrifying, unprovoked attack, as captured in graphic video.
On October 2, Wan Lai, a 36-year-old sushi chef, was ambushed from behind as she was making her way to her Melbourne, Australia, restaurant.
On CCTV, the assailant can be seen abruptly approaching from behind her before she draws a knife and approaches.
After giving her victim a direct glance, the woman stabbed Ms. Lai in the right side of her torso and fled.
The all-black-clad culprit quickly escaped the scene, but prompt police were able to find her.
Lauren Darul, a 32-year-old suspected criminal, was taken into custody and showed up in Melbourne Magistrates Court the next day. Until she makes her next appearance, the woman is still being held.
Due to non-life-threatening injuries, the chef was transported to the hospital. Since then, she has been released.
She has recently opened up about her experience, writing on Threads: “I no longer feel as comfortable in my usual surroundings as I used to.
“I lived in this area for more than four years and enjoyed it, but now that I have had this experience, I am so afraid that I get anxious just by going around it. Even the sound of footsteps behind me seems menacing, and my heart is pounding.
“I attempted to walk back to the area with my sister and brother-in-law, but my nervousness kept getting the better of me. I intended to gradually go back to Melbourne, where I could live in peace and breathe contentedly. Fear and the need to boldly take the next step were the two voices that alternated in my mind.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “After conducting a thorough search of the area, police apprehended a woman and found a knife. While out on bail, a 32-year-old Melbourne woman was accused of committing an indictable offense and purposefully causing harm.
Ivana, Ms. Lai’s sister, stated in an interview with 7News that her sibling might have died as a result of the attack.
“This time, she turned to her right and someone was there — but what if she turned to her left?” she stated on the channel. Her heart might have been at stake. She no longer has the courage to go out. She constantly looking around anxiously because she can not abide anyone walking behind her.
The violence was denounced as “absolutely abhorrent” by Premier Jacinta Allan in a statement.

“No one who commits brazen, violent acts like this should be on the streets,” she said.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Nick Reece maintained the city remains safe, despite recording a near-16% jump in criminal offences inside a year.
“By any international comparison, Melbourne is a very safe city, but we have seen a rise in the crime rate that is undeniable,” he told ABC radio Melbourne.

The Edo State Police are searching for a man named Timothy Gilbert who is accused of hurting his girlfriend, Angela Ogah, who is 40 years old. The attack is said to have taken place in Ihovbe Quarters, which is in the Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City.
According to reports, Gilbert poured a dangerous substance on Ogah during an argument and then ran away from the place.
Police confirm investigation
Speaking on Wednesday in Benin, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed that officers are actively searching for the suspect.
He appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could help locate Gilbert, stressing that cooperation is crucial to the investigation.
According to Yamu, the couple had been involved in repeated disputes linked to allegations of infidelity, which escalated into a confrontation before the attack.
Authorities warn against domestic violence
Yamu advised people experiencing relationship challenges to seek peaceful solutions and walk away from tense situations rather than resort to violence.
He stated that no emotional relationship should lead to harm, noting that the command remains committed to tackling domestic-related offences in the state.

Ogah is currently being treated at a private medical facility, where her condition is reported to be critical but under close supervision.
Her lawyer, John Izegaegbe, has submitted a formal petition to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.
He called for urgent action to ensure the suspect is apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
Residents of the community expressed shock over the incident, describing it as disturbing and unacceptable.
The police have assured the public that efforts to track down Gilbert are ongoing, and further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
