“Something is fishy” – Video of Naval officer Yerima stopped by Police for driving with covered number plate goes viral

Social media users are talking about a video that went viral online that shows Naval Officer Lt. Ahmed Yerima being pulled over by Abuja police for driving with a covered license plate.
According to reports, the event happened at the NNPC Junction on the Kubwa Expressway on November 16, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m.
An ash-colored Toyota Camry with completely tinted windows and a hidden license plate was pulled over by patrolling officers.
The officer declines to identify
A policeman can be seen in the video asking Lt. Yerima to provide his identity. The following was said by the officer:
He arrived with a car that had its license plate obscured. He was halted by us. Despite his inability to identify himself, he asserted that he is an officer.
Lt. Yerima was also seen attempting to show his identification card to the policemen, but the police officers claimed they could not see the ID clearly.
The video has attracted waves of reactions online, with users sharing their opinions on the incident.
Police Deny Assault Allegations
The video surfaced amid allegations that Lt. Yerima had been assaulted or targeted.
The FCT Police Command dismissed these claims as false and grossly misleading, stating that the stop-and-search was conducted professionally and in line with standard operational procedures.

@aroman2dollers stated: “Watch him bringing out his identity card. Why are the police officer yelling? Trying to justify to whoever that sent them that they are doing a good job. Does what happened there look like a troubled situation? No! But to score a point negatively.”
@Gerryubz said: “Yerima is too gentle.
He stopped.
He wound down
He identified himself as Army officer
He showed his ID twice.
Some Army officers won’t even do half of this.
Covering his plate is for security reasons especially after the Wike incidence.”
@RuhamahDa said: “The other one see ID card don begin Dey change mouth: You know I didn’t even see am.”
