China blasts US invasion threats, defends Nigeria amid claims of Christians massacre
The Chinese government has issued a stern warning against any external interference in Nigeria’s domestic matters, following threats by U.S. President Donald Trump of possible military action over alleged persecution of Christians.
The remarks come shortly after President Trump redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing what he described as a “Christian genocide” in the country.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, November 4, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Beijing:
“I firmly support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as it leads its people on the development path suited to its national conditions.”
Ning was responding to Trump’s warning that the United States could “go into Nigeria guns-a-blazing” if the Nigerian government failed to stop what he described as the “killing of Christians.”
She described Nigeria as China’s “comprehensive strategic partner,” emphasizing that Beijing stands by the West African nation amid rising international tensions.
“China firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force,” she added.
China’s warning to the US underscores its firm commitment to non-interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs while reaffirming strong support for the country’s sovereignty and development.

A Nigerian man has taken to social media, revealing the next spot bandits hit after the church attack in Eruku, Kwara State.
It would be recalled that tragedy struck on November 18, 2025 after gunmen stormed the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku.
A .survivor told TVC that the attackers opened fire just minutes into the evening service, killing three people and abducting about 38 congregants, who have been released.

The announcement came after Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, credited Tinubu’s personal intervention for the release of the abducted congregants.
