Portable hints at returning to school to run his music career like a boss

on

Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, is a controversial Nigerian singer who has announced that he intends to return to school with the goal of taking charge of his musical career.

The Zazu singer clarified that although he already holds an OND from Kwara State Polytechnic, he believes that additional education will provide him with the knowledge and skills necessary to fully comprehend the commercial aspect of his job.

He claims he wants to make sure he does not rely entirely on other people for direction and that his record label and music outlets are run properly.

“I want to continue my education so that I can better comprehend my music royalties and business deals, especially for my record label, Zeh Nation,” he stated, despite having an OND from Kwara State Polytechnic.
Portable claims that returning to school will enable him to properly manage his job and earn his royalties.

He went on to say that this step is about learning how to manage his music business like a real businessman, not just about getting diplomas.

Supporters showered him with appreciation; one commenter said, “At last, Portable is thinking like a true boss!” “Understanding royalties and contracts is crucial for musicians,” said another, emphasizing the need of education in the music business.

From street hits to classroom objectives, Portable is demonstrating that knowledge is power and that money is insufficient on its own.

He is the only musician from Nigeria to receive five album-related Grammy nominations in his career.

At the forthcoming 2025 Grammy Awards, his most recent album, No Sign of Weakness (2025), is a nominee for Best Global Music Album.

Burna Boy’s already remarkable career enters a new chapter with this nomination, which puts him in a class by himself.

African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023) are among his prior Grammy-nominated songs that demonstrated his developing sound and supremacy in international music.

Strong competition in the Global music category

Burna Boy faces a competitive lineup in the Best Global Music Album category this year.
